Review For A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III

From its puffed-up title to the way the cast playfully bows to us at the end, "Swan" is so eager to be a trippy comic lark that it ends up resembling a clown trying to fit through a pea-shooter.
Joe Neumaier-New York Daily News

Sitting through The Mind of Charles Swan III does not lead to a deeper understanding of Charlie Sheen. It does, however, demonstrate his compulsion for poor judgment and bad choices.
Mary F. Pols-TIME Magazine

Seriously, this is one of the strangest and most painful films in recent memory.
Andrew O'Hehir-Salon.com

With neither the moral bite of satire nor a voluptuary surrender that really basks in shallowness, this is a vague, unsatisfying work.
Nick Pinkerton-Village Voice

Swan is more of a doodle than a fully formed idea, though not necessarily less enjoyable for it, since it was clearly intended to be an undisciplined, anything-goes kinda story.
Boyd van Hoeij-Variety

With such an in-house cast of extended Coppola family sparklers, one would think things couldn't go too wrong in the comedy department, but they have little chance to oil the wheels of a creaky script written around Sheen.
Deborah Young-Hollywood Reporter

The film strangely takes it for granted that everyone adores Charlie Sheen, and is willing to extend affection to the unmistakably Charlie Sheen-like character he plays here.
Nathan Rabin-AV Club

Charlie Sheen proves he still has something to contribute, but like us, he's defenceless against Roman Coppola's inchoate script.
Shaun Munro-What Culture

A precious, arid thing, Glimpse arrives pinned to Styrofoam like a prize arthropod.
Joshua Rothkopf-Time Out New York

If Sheen brings any presence to the screen, it's geriatric.
Josh Larsen-LarsenOnFilm

In a film where the production design has as much dramatic heft as the plot, relentless quirkiness swamps the audience's need to care for and identify with any of the characters.
Lee Marshall-Screen International

It's not exactly a bold leap forward for Sheen, but, to his credit, he manages to survive a highly disorganized effort from fascinating helmer Roman Coppola.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com

There's probably a really fresh and fun movie a rewrite or edit away. It's just not here.
Nick Nunziata-CHUD

The film speeds ahead with almost gleeful disinterest in dealing with the narrative challenges it sets up before resolving them in the most perfunctory ways
Andrew Schenker-Slant Magazine
